Friends and Family

Kay and Enrique are friends from Oregon who came to visit us for a couple of weeks this spring. Our time together was refreshing, encouraging and productive. They were a big help to Paul with some of the projects at the Immanuel Mission Center. They put a solar hot water system together for the kitchen, painted the handrail down to the river and the metal bar that supports the panels that cover the tilapia pond.
Much more important than the work they did was our fellowship around the table, sharing stories from our lives, how God revealed His grace to each of us, and what we were learning from Bible study. We even took a few days to go to the beach for some rest and relaxation. While they were here, they saw our ministry up close and personal. They had read in our newsletters about our life here, but it was different to be here and visit the dental clinic, attend our church, drink coffee with our mechanic and his wife, and for Kay to spend a day with my (Bridget’s) home school students and me.
They were like another pair of grandparents to a family from our church with six kids who have been staying at the center since January. Kay and Enrique are both fluent in Spanish so the kids and their mom were at ease with them from the moment they arrived at the center. They walked with them to school in the morning, taught them to play Rummikub, repaired bikes, and taught them to ride. Kay and Enrique are avid cyclists and the kids have caught their enthusiasm for biking.

Please be praying with us about –

- the family staying with us as they transition to a new home across the river.

- the team of 12 from Medford First Baptist who will serve at the mission center from June 18-25.

- the missionaries to have wisdom as they partner with parents and teachers to educate the children and prepare them to serve the Lord.

- for us as we celebrate our 39th wedding anniversary and 10 years of service in Costa Rica.

There are so many good things that God is doing in our lives and the lives of those around us. We are grateful to Him for letting us be a part of the ICDI ministry team. Thank you for your partnership, prayers and financial support.

To God be the glory! Bridget and Paul Abbott
