The July team from Texas. |
Greetings and salutations,
As per our July newsletter we promised to send you more
information about us returning to the US. We believe God is directing us
to
leave here and serve in a different role some place. So, we are taking steps
to finish up in Costa Rica hosting our last team from Texas at the end of July,
the completion of projects at the Emmanuel Center, and Bridget’s classes coming
to an end.
We will be returning to the Northwest on the 2nd of September. The first thing on our agenda is our son’s wedding celebration in Boise, Idaho and then a visit with our oldest daughter and her husband in Dallas, Oregon.
We would like to share with you about funds and donations.
Giving to the ICDI projects (English, Emmanuel Center, etc.) can continue as
usual. If you would like to send funds to support Bridget and me (Paul), the
last date to do this through ICDI is August 31 of this year. If
funds arrive to ICDI after August 31, Ron Sweet, treasurer of ICDI, will return
them to you. If you send the donation by check, Ron will mail it back to you.
If by PayPal, Ron will refund it through PayPal. ICDI is a small non-profit in
the US and, unlike larger mission organizations that have missionaries serving
on home assignment, ICDI’s policies do not permit them to collect and process
donations for missionaries that are not currently serving overseas.
For this reason, we asked Jeff Breitler, missions pastor at Medford First Baptist Church, and the elder board to oversee our transition back to the US and they have agreed. So, from August 1, 2022 through January 31, 2023 the church will receive donations on our behalf and forward them to us each month. If you feel the Lord directing you to support us during this time of transition you can send donations to:
Medford First Baptist Church
649 Crater Lake Ave
Medford OR 97504
Please note, the church can accept donations ONLY BY CHECK. Include a note that the funds are for Paul and Bridget Abbott.
During these six months Pastor Jeff Breitler will be meeting with us on a regular basis and advising us as we work on our goals which include:
- Evaluate our time on the mission field
- Explore work and ministry opportunities
- Connect to a local church
- Find and furnish a place to live
- Purchase a vehicle
- Buy clothes for a colder climate
Part of our transition phase will be getting together with a ministry that helps missionaries with assimilating back into our home culture. A valuable help when dealing with reverse culture shock. This will be good to see and experience as I also have an interest in “member care” and a growing empathy for those in ministry in the US and abroad.
I have been in contact with different ministries and so please pray that we discern God’s direction and recognize God’s providence wherever it may lead. Also pray for a place to live, and a vehicle. We will keep you updated as we find out things.
You have partnered with our ministry and we are grateful. Together we (with the Lord) made significant inroads, expanding the Kingdom of God, during our years here. Please pray and let us know if you would like to continue with us or not. We would love for you to carry on in the adventure with us in faith.
For the word of the Lord is right and true; He is faithful in all He does. Psalms 33:4
Paul and Bridget Abbott
