Prepare for July Departure

June 2012

We had some great news from Dr. Alekcey Murillo-Alfaro. The heliport on the parking garage at Hospital Clinica Biblica is nearing completion. We are flying to San Jose, Costa Rica for the dedication on July 15. Helimission is loaning us to Aero Vital. It is a new endeavor providing the only helicopter emergency medical flights in Costa Rica and offering cargo transport services. Its purpose is to make subsidized services available in order to share the love of Christ with the people of Costa Rica. Aero Vital is especially interested in reaching the isolated and economically disadvantaged.
Heliport near completion.
After the dedication, we plan to stay in Costa Rica to study Spanish and the culture. The Spanish Language Institute provides year round instruction to missionaries. With 70 years experience, they have a worldwide reputation for their excellent academic training and effective methods. We are looking forward to living with a Costa Rican family as we attend school.

Paul will be finishing work at Medford Fuel in July. June 1st the parents, teachers, students and I (Bridget) celebrated the last day of school with a carnival in the park. This week Logos Public Charter School had a staff retreat at a camp east of Medford. It was a relaxing day of hiking, sitting by the fire, talking around the table at lunch, and laughing over “silly awards”. The 16 months working at the school God has used to change me and prepare me for what is ahead. The best part has been the people. It is a privilege to work with the staff, a supportive group of professionals, and the moms who make a big sacrifice to home school their children. The students are so full of life and willing to do all I ask (erosion experiments, dissecting owl pellets, shooting hoops, making a Power Point for their report...). They are just plain fun to be with. It has been a wonderful experience and I will miss each of them.

On June 8th our reading in Oswald Chambers' My Utmost for His Highest had a theme about obedience. One of the things he said was, “When you know that you should do something and you do it, immediately you know more.” He was referring to the time when Jesus washed the disciples feet and said, “If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them” (John 13:17). We are stepping out in faith and following what we believe God wants us to do. We are obeying God's call to Costa Rica and relying on Him to show us more of Himself. We want to join Him in reaching the people there with the message of salvation through His Son, Jesus.

Prayer Requests:
  • Visa – Pray we are granted permanent religious visas.
  • Travel Plans – We need God's wisdom to make plane reservations, pack, and plan our itinerary.
  • Language School – Pray we quickly learn Spanish & the culture and connect with the people of Costa Rica.
  • Support – God has provided funds for language school. :>) Our funding goal is $3000 per month and we are currently receiving donations for 25% of that. Pray our support will increase. Contact us if you want to make a donation or partner with us on an ongoing basis and we will send you information.

God is putting the pieces together in amazing ways. Thanks for your continued support and encouragement.

Serving Him,
Bridget & Paul
